I have this issue with both my home PC (nvidia MX400) and work PC (nvidia Geforce 7300). I changed from the Nouveau driver on my work PC because it is buggy. Small fonts have bits missing in them making some words unreadable. But the huge ugly Ubuntu logo with the nvidia driver is embarrassing in an office environment. its brilliant that the nvidia driver works after years of nvidia problems. It just needs this boot stuff tidying up. Maybe its just a paper cut, but I think its an important one.
