If you are still following this bug, even though it has been labelled as fixed, 
please go over to Bug #174809 
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/174809), see if that 
is similar to what you are experiencing, and label it as affecting you too if 
need be.  It is not marked as a duplicate, but is very similar and currently 
only has 6 affected users, and I think that there are more out there...  

Kind of a bad bug IMHO.  I shouldn't have to manually restart Nautilus
as a memory management strategy.  Memory management should be built
right in and customizable by caching options or something similar.
