Public bug reported:

The ubuntu 10.04 installer appears to correctly detect the existence of
a Mac OSX installation, and lists it as an item in the bootloader menu
at the end of the installation. However, when the system reboots it is
in fact not capable of booting to OSX and so access to that operating
system is no longer possible.

Either there should be a warning that this is likely to happen (or that
Mac/HFS+ is not actually supported), or if Mac is detected no bootloader
should be installed by default, as the Mac one must be used in order to
be able to dual boot with both Mac and Gnu/Linux. Overwriting the Mac
bootloader with Grub simply causes problems and makes access to OSX
impossible.
