I rec. a similar error.. using Ubunto 10.04 There are four errors.. when using an AVI container the file is rendered out and works but the render hangs and says "1 sec" left.. (forever).
With other container/codec the rendering starts and never progresses beyond 0%, in some cases it creates the file but in other cases it doesn't Problem:GStreamer encountered a general stream error.
