I understand that the user theme is different than the gdm theme. I thought gdm configuration was controlled partially by /var/lib/gdm/*, but that could be incorrect. I've included the gconf info from the gdm user as I thought that might be relevant.
I'm having trouble getting a screenshot; using ImageMagick doesn't work, and gdmthemetester looks to no longer exist.
