I agree with Srinath. Although it can be seen as a bug, not just a wish,
since Mantis is
!!not fully compatible!!
with the php version (5.3) that ships with Lucid. While PHP got an
upgrade (from 5.2.10), Mantis stayed at 1.1.8.
So, right now, you either have to downgrade php, or build Mantis from
source.
If you try to use mantisconnect through eclipse sdk for example, you'll
get the following error:

(Initial) support for PHP 5.3 was released with Mantis 1.2. (See:
