It's not working with a USB serial adapter, but it does hang for a few seconds (as though it's looking). I had this on a previous 10.04 machine, but got it working by adding an additional serial card. At first I thought it was down to drivers, but now I am suspecting that these onboard server ports aren't dishing out enough power.
