David Gnedt - your fix works! Thanx! I tried your ppa mountall 386 package and together with the turn off statd in /etc/default/nfs-common and nolock add to fstab root options, it seems to work for me also (Also thanx to Jim Rees). First I tried Jims suggestion alone but the mountall patch was also necessary.
