Similar (same?) issue here on 2.6.32-22-generic with hostapd running in
AP mode: When transferring a lot of data, I get the following messages:

[190164.801177] ath5k phy0: failed to warm reset the MAC Chip
[190164.801189] ath5k phy0: can't reset hardware (-5)
[190164.821089] ath5k phy0: noise floor calibration failed (2412MHz)

Restarting hostapd helps.
