I confirm this problem with an X40. All the USB ports on my previous X40 died like described here: <http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_with_USB_2.0#Fried_Southbridge_USB_controller> (unfortunately I do not remember if there were these "over-current" messages on my previous X40)
