I have the same issue with Suspend/hibernate.. It definitely shows black screen and no resume regardless of pressing any key sequences. The only way out is to full hardware reboot through power button. I had recompiled kernel and have been running 2.6.30 a few months ago. Hoping that this would be fixed in 10.04.. but looks like we are stuck.. from the messages above.
Ubuntu is great!. But with the overheating problem and the suspend/resume on Toshiba L300.. is literally unusable..
