I'm attaching an MP3 file that triggers the bug, though it's not specific to this one file, I have hundreds that do it from different sources. I can reproduce this problem every time by:
1. Loading the MP3 in VLC 2. Start playing it 3. If I let it play it will play for several minutes, then the loud screeching "static" starts 4. It's exasperated if I move the slider to seek different parts of the file a number of times, but this isn't necessary to reproduce 5. Once the static starts, if I hit PAUSE, I can watch the VLC process in top going from 30MB of RES to 3.0+ GB within a few seconds. At this point the system runs out of RAM and swap and crashes. Gxine and Windows Media Player both play the file flawlessly.
