Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libmpg123-0
libmpg123 v1.12.1 (also used by the 'mpg123' program) has a known memory corruption bug that is fixed in later versions. See: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2996045&group_id=135704&atid=733194 http://freshmeat.net/projects/mpg123/releases/318444 This affects all programs that depend on this library for decoding mp3 files (including the program mpg123 itself) with random segfaults and crashes, making the library practically unusable. An upgrade of mpg123/libmpg123 to a newer version (such as 1.12.3) would be enough fix the problem. I am using Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS.
