Status in “initramfs-tools” package in Ubuntu: New

Bug description:
Binary package hint: initramfs-tools

im getting a black screen after installation that wont let ubuntu start
up so i booted from a usb in the "take a tour" mode. im on my broadband
from verison and tried to download sta driver but it wont install... do
i need to remove or cancel the  b43 or blacklist ssb? how do i do that
if i do need to? im using the "install in windows" mode for 10.04
