I wanted to add the information, that the bug is closed in freedesktop bugtracker as "NotOurBug" - that's why i changed it to "linux (Ubuntu)" (kernel).
I just confirmed that this is probably a kernel bug: Adding "nomodeset" to the kernel command line is all it takes to make google earth work like a charm: http://i38.tinypic.com/2v0k1hd.png There are so far no bad side effects with "nomodeset" for me. The opposite is the case: as a positive side-effect I can now resize firefox windows with the compiz resize plugin configured to "Normal" (show window content during resize) without the borders constantly flickering - which used to be a minor issue: lp 454218 additional info: installed video driver: Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeon Source: xserver-xorg-video-ati Version: 1:6.13.0-1ubuntu5 kernel: Package: linux-image-2.6.32-24-generic Architecture: amd64 Source: linux Version: 2.6.32-24.41 -- OpenGL graphic errors in google earth https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/570879 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
