Hello, Like Lord Shadow I have an Asus P5NE SLI based system (PATA optical drive) (kernel 2.6.32-24 - 64bit) Same problem:
Optical media not auto-mounted. One time mount possible by leaving CD in drive when booting but disk only accessible for a while and then stops.
