There was a news item on the Debian news page asking for anyone who has had trouble with windows 7 making a Linux installation unbootable to put in bug report with the information from fdisk -lu, dd if=/dev/sda of=sda.1 count=63, and dd if= /dev/sda of=sda.2 count=63. The first sda.1 is the before windows "screws things up" and the sda.2 is the after. Unfortunately the bug report page does not let you add more than one attachment, so I gave the after, sda.2.
Apparently from the news item windows wants to have some statement that is not there when grub sets up the boot file. It is all beyond me. I wish I had kept the name of the person that was asking for the information. I will get it if you like. Also do you want the other files - fdisk -lu and sda.1? If so, I will be glad to sent them to you.
