Same problem here, Acer TravelMate 8000 (8006LMi). "attempt to access beyond end of device" and boot halts
Using 2.6.17-10 atm to boot, which works fine. This is clearly quite a new problem and I can't find any useful information anywhere. I don't know enough to fix myself and this is my work system that I need so I can't mess about too much either.
