*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 84964 ***

Gabriel,

Thanks for your message.

Indeed it seems like a separate problem with SATA drives. It looks like the
previous fix fixed the Asus boards but not the Abit obes (Abit AB9 pro to be
exact).

I just downloaded the current build of 7.04 beat dated March 29. I got the
same errors as the ones I described in my previous mail.

I looked inside my machine and I noticed that none of my drives are hooked
to the JMicron JMB363 controller. I have three SATA drives: one CD/DVD ROM
and two 160GB disks. They all sit on the Intel ICH8R controller.
Apparently the CD drive works fine and the hard drives do not.

The Abit pro board has the total of 9 SATA connectors. Six of them are
ICH8R, two JMicron and one Silicon Image. I suppose I can connect the hard
drives to the JMicron controller and see what happens but the stuff should
work for the Intel controller anyway.

Andy

Subject: [Bug 95866] Re: install partition manager doesn't show sda

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 84964 ***

The description of this problem seems somewhat different from that of
bug #84964 ie the machine is bootable, but doesn't properly recognise
the SATA drive.

Does the newest daily fix the problem? If not, I'm going to unmark this
as a duplicate of bug #84964, and instead mark it as a duplicate of bug
#95383, which seems to be almost identical, and also doesn't seem to
have been fixed by 2.6.20.13
