I am having a similar issue. I can successfully change channels, however this seems to be a display issue. The program information when I'm changing the channel correctly shows the show information, but the channel number is not displayed, rather the "Adding Char" text appears where I think the channel number should be shown. This is a new mythtv .20 build on Gentoo with a kernel of 2.6.19-gentoor5. I think this is the real bug, not the issue of not changing until hitting enter. That is a setting value in the setup "change channel immediately" or something like that.
