"almost" certain you saw the proxy step...

So my choice was: expert options and install command line system at the
first boot screen.

I'm certain I didn't saw the proxy step after I chose the network
mirror. I tested an Ubuntu 10.04 alternate install iso (just for sure)
and at this time the installer asked for proxy settings. I think this is
a bug in the Ubuntu 10.10 alternate installer and 10.04 don't have this
issue.

Yes, I know these reports against Kubuntu alternate, however the Ubuntu
and Kubuntu are using the nearly same alternate installer.
