Don't know how to close the request... I played with PulseAudio some more. After purging all Pulse related packages, and removing etc files, I reinstalled Pulse. I then rebooted the machine - and now it seems to work. Not sure how and why, but I am happy to hear sound again! Still, other users of the system do not have sound. Is this a known issue?
