Yes Flossgeek, There's a lot that's difficult to understand and I certainly don't understand enough to make any real comment accept that all problems disappear on both Win Xp and UBuntu when I connect to the wireless router with a wire ! OK at least the logic implies it can't be UBuntu specific. ATB /Melvyn
