Well, I tried the new and shiny 10.10 beta. Still will not play with my Optical CD/DVD drive. Frozen like ice. I sure would like to be able to leave this Ubuntu 8.10 and move up a couple years with the rest of you. But Fedora, Mint, Puppy, PCLOS, and Mandriva, any distro using the new kernel also freezes.
Until my computer breaks and I get a new one, I'm stuck with kernel Linux 2.6.27.18. Please work on this someday.
