The firmware extracted from Windows drivers is version 4 and the driver says it doesn't support it (numerous messages in dmesg). The firmware downloaded from the unofficial site http://debian.cafuego.net/dists /feisty-cafuego/bcm43xx/ doesn't work particularly well, it deadlocks on ping -f to the nearest wireless gateway, with no chance to rmmod it.
