To be clear, when you try to connect Ubuntu One to an existing Launchpad account, you click on the link at the bottom, and enter your account info, this is when you get this msg. So it's impossible to connect your existing account on a new install, importance is pretty high. I've entered all the info correctly, I think it's incorrectly looking at the new account info fields.
