I can confirm this problem.
Using:
uname -a:
Linux laptop 2.6.35-02063504-generic #201008271919 SMP Fri Aug 27 19:22:15 UTC
2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux
lspci:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 02)
/etc/issue:
Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Laptop: Latitude E6410

However: The installed kernel was supposed to fix the problem. We have two
laptops of the same type. On one laptop, the current kernel (2.6.35-02063504)
fixes the problem and the laptop boots into X. On my laptop, it boots and the
screen stays blank.
When I connected the hdmi connector with a monitor, I get an X screen on the
external monitor as well as on the LCD of the laptop. But after I disabled the
hdmi output, there is no way to get the X running properly. From the logs it
seems that it boots into X, and switching (in blank screen mode) with
ctrl+alt+f1 to console and press ctrl-alt-del reboots the machine. Therefore we
assume that the machine is responsive and working, while the screen stays
blank. We also evaluate this problem for our department, but since the i915
seems to have the same problem on machines with other hardware and intel grafic
cards, this problem remains very important to us.

testing 2.6.36 now...
