Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity
To reproduce: Ensure that a keyboard shortcut is setup to launch a terminal: 1) Select Applications 2) Search for "Keyboard Shortcuts", and open the Keyboard Shortcuts preferences 3) Scroll down to "Run a Terminal", and set a shortcut using the 'windows key' (I use Mod4+T) 4) Close the Keyboard Shortcuts preference window 5) Launch a terminal using the shortcut When the shortcut is pressed, the screen flashes white, the unity panels disappear, open windows lose their borders and move up and to the right. After a short while (1-2 seconds), the new terminal appears, and unity reloads. UPDATE: Upon further investigation, it appears that this is related to the Mod4 key. When I press Mod4 and any other non-numeric key, unity restarts. This may be related to #630407, however, I'm not making it a duplicate, as this bug doesn't mention unity restarting. $ lsb_release -rd && apt-cache policy unity Description: Ubuntu maverick (development branch) Release: 10.10 unity: Installed: 0.2.36-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 0.2.36-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 0.2.36-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://za.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Unity restarts when launching a terminal with a shortcut incorporating the Mod4 or 'windows' key https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/637982 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
