"python-stats can't be uninstalled without also uninstalling ubuntu- desktop."
Really? Python-stats isn't even in main, and ubuntu-desktop certainly shouldn't depend on it. Could you try to work out what the dependency path is that means you can't remove python-stats without removing ubuntu-desktop? e.g. try running "apt-get --simulate remove python-stats" and paste the [beginning of the] output in here. as for the io module: I'm afraid I don't know enough about the package to have a sense of whether it is needed. Does installing it do any harm, other than taking up space? ** Changed in: python-stats (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Dan O'Huiginn Status: Unconfirmed => Needs Info -- io module is not generally useful https://launchpad.net/bugs/73919 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
