Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: checkbox

Since checkbox apparently needs root privileges to run, it will invoke gksudo
when started. However, aborting the gksudo dialogue doesn't result in the
program being aborted/closed as well, but in a loading bar being displayed
indefinitely.
I don't know what happens in case the password is wrong, but it could be the
same.
checkbox should recognize this and end the program, instead of just waiting.
