As a side note - this is probably just a confusion between desktops and workspaces. If you actually change "number of desktops", you will not change the workspace layout. Desktops are generally not used in compiz and we(Compiz-people) we've been stupid not to remove that option years ago as it only serves to confuse users.
You have to dig REALLY deep to find any bindings that allow you to switch _desktops_ and not workspaces. Desktops are unused because you only map the windows on the current desktop. For Compiz, that means you can't see any content in windows not on the current desktop, which makes it impossible to have a cube across desktops or see a live preview of a window on a different desktop. By using a single desktop but multiple workspaces, this is a non-issue. Unfortunately, this is awkward and confusing X-terminology which is only natural to people who know the majority of the EWMH by heart. It should never had made it into a config option as-is. Of course, it could be something different, but I figured I'd offer an explanation anyway (should've looked at this bug myself before it went this stale - sorry for that) -- Lucid Lynx advanced manager is not able to change amount of desktop spaces https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/524590 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
