I confirm that installing http://people.canonical.com/~diwic/temp/alsa-
intel-hda-optiplex-dkms_1.0.23_all.deb fixed the problem with no sound
on Sony VAIO VPCEB1M1E, in Ubuntu Lucid 10.04.

BTW, bug 534372 seems to be a duplicate of this one, as I got the exact
same symptoms, and the workaround from that bug (using hda-verb) works
for me.
