This affects me also. It looks that this is actually a hardware problem that 
mouse sends two clicks due to bad microswitch.

BUT I also think that this problem could be easily avoided in software by 
filtering out clicks that come too fast. That is same-button mouse click that 
comes earlier than given threshold after previous click of same type should be 
ignored. 
This, perhaps should be configured per-button because mouse scroll wheel might 
not need this.
