Sudo modprobe nvidia returns the following error message:
FATAL: Could not open '/lib/modules/2.6.20-13-generic/volatile/nvidia.ko': No
such file or directory

I did discover that the instructions given in Synaptic package manager are out
of date. If you search for the nvidia-glx package and select it for
installation, the instruction given on the last line of of the information
screen says:
"To enable the driver, run sudo nvidia-glx-config enable".

This is wrong. the correct command is "sudo nvidia-xconfig"

Running this command, properly backs up xorg.conf and enters the nvidia
driver.

However, x still fails to load with the nvidia driver enabled.

The hardware detection failure of this video card is present in Edgy
final and Feisty beta and I will enter that as a seperate bug.
