I'm currently using the 2.6.34 kernel and though the problem is not that annoying anymore, it is still present. I'd have a hard time explaining the cause, I'm monitoring resource usage with htop and nothing out of the ordinary comes up. I set cpufreq to keep the cpu on Performance even on battery, and from the Power Management Settings, I disabled the "Spin down hard-disks when possible". I will continue to provide any info necessary.
