We need to find out whether this is a regression introduced by the recent version of wine or by something which has changed in wine. Would you be happy compiling wine from git as set out in the initial sections of http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting%20 ? You will need a compile a few earlier versions and see whether they still display the problem in the new release of Ubuntu you are using.
