Its possible that apparmor is preventing access; however the output from /var/log/kern.log is inconclusive so please could you execute the following commands:
sudo aa-complain /usr/bin/smbclient smbclient -L //MSHOME/NET If apparmor is blocking access, these commands should enable the access and produce some good log data in /var/log/kern.log and /var/log/apparmor; please can you attach these to the bug report once you have completed execution of the commands.
