Same error: "BIOS(Block1) Damaged" after installing Ubuntu 10.04 x86 32bit from the Alternate CD on a Toshiba T9100.
>From the nature of the error message I too assumed it was not related to Ubuntu, but finding this bug report certainly raises some questions! So I thought I'd add my experience to the list of reports...
