Actually, sfill does not hang but it does not run either, it crawls. Using regular one pass options (-l -l), the fill rate is 2 GB/hour.
Using fast one pass options (-f -l -l), the fill rate is 66.8 GB/hour. That's slow but tolerable, at least for a small laptop drive (160 GB with 133 GB free, 5400 rpm). As for the other options, they are just too slow to be usable on a modern drive.
