in bug #554099 (comment 147) Anders Østerholt brought up a patch sent to
the linux-usb mailing list, that enables the GPS (and a diagnostic)
interface: https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/204812/

would be great to get that into maverick and lucid LTS.
