Lee, I installed the Maverick Kernel and so far it is working perfect. I know there are many others out there that are having the same issue is it possible/OK for me to refer them to the kernel downloads??
I did a restart with and without a disc in the drive and it is working as expected. So far I have only tested a production audio CD, DVD, a burned DVD, and a CD Game so far all worked and the drive was mounted!! Wouldn't really call this an official fix, but it might have to do if we can't find where the lucid kernel was failing at? Or maybe it is?! Anyways thank you for the help I'll keep you posted on what I find and what happens this evening with the drives, and let me know if there is anything else you need from me.
