Binary package hint: fglrx
In ubuntu 10.04 i was running fine with the fglrx driver for my radeon
v530 driver. This worked fine for a combination of 1600x900 of the
laptop screen and 1680x1040 on the external screen.
After upgrading to 10.10, 1680x1040 is NOT available as a resolution of
the external display. i can choose settings like 1600x900 or any 4:3
resolutions. So it seems that 16:9 on primary and and 16:10 on external
is not supported any more
