I have the same problem with a number of different configurations: 3 computers running 10.04, 3 different CD-RW burnt with the desktop 10.10 i386 iso downloaded twice, and one with the 10.04.1 i386 iso. Also tried burning on two different computers (just in case it was the CD burner that was bad). No idea what is happening but it is really annoying!!!
I'm currently downloading the DVD iso to see if it fixes the problem... will try it tomorrow. I'll also try burning on a standard (non re- writeable CD) and maybe also burning using a Windows box.
