Additional info: This problem seams to appear only, if the "autoconnect" field is disabled in the connection manager. But this problem did not exist with ubuntu 10.04. I could have the autoconnection of the UMTS modem disabled, and was not asked for the pin at boot time. I am using a dell latitude e6400 computer with builtin UMTS modem.
