Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

my system sound used to work great with 10.04 but after upgrading to
10.10 it stopped working. I have a M-Audio 1010lt delta.. i only can
play sound as root (sudo rhythmbox and sudo mpg123 works for example)
but when i try to use rhythmbox or mpg123 as my user i can't hear a
thing (but ican't get no error... it starts playing normally but
without a sound).

the only error message i get is when i try to start pulseaudio from
command line (it happens when i start pulseaudio as root as well):

bg...@escaleta:~$ pulseaudio -k
bg...@escaleta:~$ pulseaudio
