Yeah, that is the next step, but I wanted to find out what code was actually causing the crash so that I know who/what project to file the bug with. Why bother glib people with something that is gnome-totem territory? Besides, I think I have a pretty good idea of whats happening here. It looks like the thumb-nailer is causing the crash while trying to open an already allocated resource. Maybe trying to open a part of a file that has changed or is currently being written. This shouldn't happen really and its specific to playable media (video/audio) as far as I can tell. I haven't tried to reproduce this bug with a media file that was incomplete but not being written to. Sorry for the theory with no support. I will get back with some more concrete info asap.
