Public bug reported:

I updated from 10.04.1 (Lucid) to 10.10 (Maverick) and i am experiencing
problems with my sound. When i manually change songs in rhythmbox, my
subwoofer stops playing. When songs pass automatically though, subwoofer
continues to play fine for a while, but sooner or later it dies out
anyways, just it takes an hour or two of playing. Funny thing is that if
i go to sound preferences and in hardware tab i switch to some other
than 5.1 (which my system is) and then switch back to 5.1, it begins to
play normally as it should again, but only until next manual song
switch. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this? I had no such
problems with 10.04 so it's not something with my speakers or sound card
- i am sure of it.

Another strange thing related to this. I had to plug my speaker jacks
into different places than before update in order for speaker test to
recognize speakers correctly.

Ubuntu 10.10
alsa-base:
  Installed: 1.0.23+dfsg-1ubuntu4
  Candidate: 1.0.23+dfsg-1ubuntu4
  Version table:
 *** 1.0.23+dfsg-1ubuntu4 0
        500 http://lt.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

If you need any further information, just say how to get it and i will
provide it.
