I also find it very frustrating that this hasn't been fixed yet. I installed Ubuntu 10.04 to Acer Travelmate 4670 and it has exactly the same problem with wireless network. After I installed #35 wpasupplicant, libpcsclite1and libssl0.9.8 wireless connection works without problems.
