Ok, I can reproduce the crash. If I start with my normal 1680x1050
configuration everything works fine, even the X restart but if I change the
settings to use the internal screen pc hangs after X restart. If I start
directly with the internal screen setting X doesn't start and gives me the
usual error without crashing the system.
I have checked it without MonitorLayout but it didn't work. So you use only one
graphic card, screen and monitor setting in xorg.conf and you have two
resolutions under screen, one for your laptop and one for your external and the
driver automatically uses the correct one?
