This is happening with dual boot Vista /10.04 (Wubi) and 10.10 (dedicated partition - sda5).
The (small - 1GiB) recovery partition sda1 is designated on the menu as the Windows loader and the main (90 GiB) Windows partition sda2 is shown as the recovery partition. Whilst the menu text can be altered in grub.d to reflect the correct wording this does not address the underlying problem. The user.log file returns the same incorrect information under 'linux 20microsoft'. tho Gparted correctly identifies the partitions. There is a thread about this in the ubuntu forum general help (19 Oct 2010) and the issue is not confined to one type of machine. My computer: Sony Vaio laptop - Dual Core 64 bit. Partitioned with Vista. First partition is Windows and holds sda1 and sda2 in which also is a wubi installation. Second partition holds sda5 dedicated to 10.10 and sda6 as swap. -- grub installer recognizes Windows 7 recovery partition instead of main partition https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/597793 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
